Turtleford RCMP: two charged after investigation into copper wire theft

On November 4, 2024 at approximately 4 a.m., Turtleford RCMP received a report of a theft of copper wire at work site in Frenchman Butte, SK. Officers responded immediately and began investigating, which included reviewing video surveillance footage of the theft. Officers identified a suspect vehicle.
On November 5, 2024 at approximately 7 a.m., Turtleford RCMP initiated a traffic stop in Paradise Hill, SK after observing the suspect vehicle.
Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle did not stop immediately. It continued on, damaging a fence but later came to a stop and the driver, who was the lone occupant, fled on foot. Officers located and seized approximately 425 kilograms of copper wire in the truck.
Turtleford RCMP, with the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP’s Police Dog Services, located and arrested the suspect a short time later.
As a result of continued investigation, 24-year-old Justin Moore from Paradise Hill, SK is charged with:
- one count, flight from police, Section 320.17, Criminal Code;
- one count, dangerous operation of motor vehicle causing bodily harm, Section 320.13(2), Criminal Code;
- one count, operation while prohibited, Section 320.18, Criminal Code;
- two counts, mischief under $5,000, Section 430(4), Criminal Code; and
- two counts, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code.
Justin Moore appeared in Lloydminster Provincial Court on November 13, 2024 (Information #s: 90503768, 90503436,90503690,90503630,90503508,90503578)
He was also arrested on warrants from Turtleford RCMP for failing to attend court, mischief under $5000 and possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.
As a result of continued investigation, a second adult male was also arrested in Paradise Hill on November 5.
25-year-old Levi Morris also from Paradise Hill, SK has been charged with:
- one count, theft over $5,000, Section 334(a), Criminal Code; and
- one count, mischief over $5,000, Section 430(4), Criminal Code.
Levi Morris is scheduled to appear in court in St. Walburg on December 17, 2024 (Information # 90503579)
