LGCC building under temporary closure while City of Lloydminster awaits test results.
The Lloydminster Golf and Curling Centre building remains temporarily closed following a possible disturbance of asbestos-containing material identified last week.
After air tests were completed, the City of Lloydminster received the results on Nov. 20 showing readings above the permitted levels. Initial testing indicated the issue was likely limited to small area. Out of an abundance of caution, air samples were taken throughout the building and additional surface testing was completed throughout the building on Nov. 27. These surface-test samples were sent to a laboratory and the City is currently awaiting the results of these tests.
The LGCC building remains completely closed to the public. The City of Lloydminster has been in regular communication with members of the Lloydminster Curling Club and organizers of the Astec curling event, scheduled for January 2025.
More information will be provided as it becomes available.
