Update: Loon Lake RCMP investigating structure fire

Loon Lake RCMP continued to investigate the September 2024 fire that destroyed a church in Loon Lake. The fire was determined to be suspicious in nature.
On December 7, 2024, Loon Lake RCMP arrested a male in relation to the investigation.
25-year-old Shandon Chief from Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation is charged with one count, arson, Section 434, Criminal Code.
He was also arrested for breaching a conditional sentence order.
He appeared in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on December 9, 2024 (Information #90554737).
