Lloydminster… A loaded handgun and a variety of drugs were seized after ALERT arrested an alleged drug dealer in Wainwright, Alta.
ALERT Lloydminster’s organized crime team made the arrest and seizure on May 2, 2025. The arrest took place at a home in Wainwright after the suspect allegedly picked up drugs in the Edmonton area.
ALERT alleges the suspect was involved in drug trafficking in the Wainwright, Lloydminster, and Lashburn, Sask. areas. Lloydminster RCMP and Wainwright RCMP assisted with the short-term investigation.
“This was a quick investigation but will ultimately having a lasting community impact. Drug activity can be magnified in smaller communities and poses an unwanted risk to residents,” said Sgt. Bruce MacLean, ALERT.
ALERT seized approximately $32,000 worth of drugs, including:
A loaded handgun;
308 grams of cocaine;
550 milliliters of GHB;
45 grams of methamphetamine;
22 grams of fentanyl;
$390 cash.
Scott Carpenter, a 48-year-old from Provost, Alta., was charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a firearm without a license, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a loaded firearm, and resisting arrest.
Carpenter remains in custody and is expected to appear in court on May 6, 2025 in Lloydminster.
Meanwhile, an associate of Carpenter’s was also arrested. Cvonne Schwartz, a 21-year-old from Edmonton, was found to be wanted on several warrants out of Edmonton.
