Lloydminster, AB/SK— The City of Lloydminster is encouraging residents to have their say on the future of waste management in the community. As part of the development of the Integrated Waste Management and Facility Master Plan, the City has launched a public survey to gather feedback on key waste management and diversion initiatives.
The survey will be open until 11:59 p.m. on May 21, 2025, and asks residents for their thoughts on various waste management topics, including:
• Curbside collection engagement and education
• Waste diversion tactics
• Recycling barriers
• An organic pilot project for businesses and multi-family dwellings
This survey is a key part of Phase 2 of the Master Plan development, which focuses on creating a waste management strategy and infrastructure plan. Residents are encouraged to participate and share their opinions to help guide the City in developing a sustainable, efficient, and financially viable waste management system for the future.
The survey is available online at YourVoiceLloyd.ca/SWMP, and paper copies are available at City Hall (4420 50 Ave), the Operations Centre (6623 52 St), and the Sanitary Landfill.
About Phase One
The results from Phase One showed respondents were generally satisfied with the City’s solid waste management system, though satisfaction was lower among multi-family residents and business owners. Common suggestions for improvement included expanding recycling, enhancing curbside services, and increasing education on waste reduction. Cost-effective waste management was a top concern for all groups. These findings and the results from Phase Two will be used to influence the final plan.
