Lloydminster RCMP investigates collision involving police vehicle
Lloydminster, Alta. – On July 4, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., a Lloydminster RCMP officer was involved in a motor vehicle collision while conducting routine patrol duties within the city. The collision, which took place at the intersection of 50 Avenue and 48 Street, occurred when another vehicle crossed the center line and struck the police cruiser.
Following the collision, the driver of the non-police vehicle fled the scene on foot. RCMP members quickly responded and, with the assistance of information provided by witnesses at the scene, located and arrested the suspect a short time later.
As a result of the investigation, Larissa Berland (36), a resident of Frog Lake, SK, was charged with:
- Dangerous Operation of a vehicle;
- Operation while impaired of a vehicle; and
- Fail to remain at the scene of a collision.
Berland brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions. She is to appear before the Lloydminster Provincial Court on July 22, 2025.
The RCMP member involved in the collision sustained minor injuries, was assessed in hospital and subsequently released.

Byford of the Lloydminster RCMP. “Your quick actions and willingness to remain on scene to provide witness statements greatly assisted our investigation and ensured the safety of everyone involved.”
