Lloydminster RCMP responds to reports of a firearm pointed at City Hall
Lloydminster, Alta. – On Jan. 8, 2026, Lloydminster RCMP received a report that a firearm had been pointed at people within City Hall. RCMP responded and arrived within minutes and intercepted the suspect as he was leaving the area. RCMP officers arrested the suspect without incident and a search incidental to arrest revealed a replica firearm. No one was injured as a result of this event or the arrest.
As a result of the investigation, Stephen Thunderblanket (35), a resident of Cut Knife, SK, was charged with:
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
- Using imitation firearm in commission of an offence;
- Carrying concealed weapon;
- Uttering threats; and
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.
Thunderblanket was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. He is to appear before the Lloydminster Provincial Court on Jan. 13, 2026.
