The Lloydminster Hospital has a new ultrasound to help improve patient care because of three organizations in Lloydminster working together to fund the new piece of equipment.
The Lloydminster Region Health Foundation received generous donations to fund the new equipment. The Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation contributed $75,000, including a significant donation from Ed Behnke. The Lloydminster Rotary Club donated $20,000.
In a press release issued by the Lloydminster Region Health Foundation, Gary Kulak, Lloydminster Columbus Club Charitable Foundation board member said “Our foundation and council are deeply committed to the well-being of our neighbours, and we recognize that local health services are the backbone of a thriving community. When we looked for a way to make a truly meaningful contribution, supporting our healthcare infrastructure was the natural choice.”
Mike Sidoryk, Past President of the Rotary Club of Lloydminster said “Rotary’s guiding principle of Service Above Self is about making meaningful, lasting contributions to our community. Supporting local healthcare was the focus of my President’s Project because access to timely diagnostic care matters to every family in our region”
The new machine has improved image quality and efficiency, increased portability to perform bedside exams, and overall will enhance the care and experience of patients.
Kagan Kneen, CEO of the Lloydminster Region Health Foundation said “With this new enhanced ultrasound, healthcare professionals are able to provide patients with more accurate diagnoses, enabling them to receive the appropriate care in a timelier manner. The generous support of our donors allows us to continue to support the residents and our region of the province”
The addition of the new piece of equipment was made possible through a partnership with the LRHF and the Saskatchewan Health Authority
