16th Annual Kindness Wins Launch
Lloydminster, SK/AB — The Kindness Wins campaign returns for its 16th year, continuing a community tradition that began in 2011 in support of anti-bullying efforts and National Pink
Shirt Day, recognized this year on February 25, 2026. Since its inception, the initiative has raised more than $56,000 to promote kindness, inclusion, and respect across the region.
Funds raised through the 2026 campaign will once again support Beyond Borders Circle of Change, helping advance anti-bullying programming, training, and student-led initiatives in
local schools. This year introduces the Kindness Wins Rural Grants, expanding the campaign’s reach beyond the city. Rural schools, community groups, and organizations within the local trading area will now have the opportunity to apply for funding to support kindness-focused initiatives in their communities.
The 2026 Kindness Wins graphic was created in partnership with the Lakeland College Rustlers Women’s Hockey Team. Partnering with the team was a natural fit for this year’s
campaign. The Rustlers Women’s Hockey Team brings an incredible spirit of leadership, teamwork, and community pride—values that align beautifully with Kindness Wins.
As the program grows, new partner organizations will be selected each year to collaborate on future designs, using the artwork process as an additional fundraising opportunity.
This year’s special-edition colour is Rustlers Green. Kindness Wins apparel is available at the Lloydminster Co-op Marketplace, Neilburg Grocery Store, 18th Street Gas Bar, Hamptons
Gas Bar, Ironwells Gas Bar and North Stop Gas Bar while supplies last.
The history of National Pink Shirt Day dates back to 2007 when a grade 9 student in Nova Scotia was bullied for wearing a pink shirt on their first day of school. In a show of support,
two students purchased dozens of pink shirts and distributed them, quickly gaining support across the school. The next day, 75% of the school’s students showed up wearing pink,
sparking a global movement dedicated to standing up against bullying and promoting kindness.
The Lloydminster and District Co-op is proud to continue the legacy of National Pink Shirt Day through the Kindness Wins initiative, inspiring future generations to embrace kindness,
inclusivity, and respect in their communities.
