Lloydminster RCMP GIS makes arrest in child pornography investigation
Lloydminster, Alta. – In October 2024, Lloydminster RCMP received information from Northern Alberta Internet Child Exploitation Unit (NAICE) stating that child pornography was uploaded, shared and/or created by an individual in the Lloydminster area. The individual had not been identified at the time but potential emails and screen names had been provided. Lloydminster RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) took carriage of the investigation. Over the course of the year-long investigation, Lloydminster RCMP GIS was able to identify the suspect and obtain an arrest warrant, which was executed on Feb. 5, 2026.
As a result of the investigation, Jayson Vincent Capio (32), a resident of Lloydminster, was charged with:
- Distribution of child pornography
- Possession of child pornography; and
- Accessing child pornography.
Capio was brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions, to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Lloydminster on Feb. 10, 2026.
