UPDATE: LLOYDMINSTER PRAIRIE NORTH PLAZA/PRAIRIE NORTH HEALTH CENTRE REOPENS WEDNESDAY
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is committed to the safety of both its patients and staff in all our facilities while continuing to deliver health care services as close to home as possible.
On Monday July 20, 2026, a sewer backup occurred at the Prairie North Health Centre / Prairie North Plaza (4910 50th St.) in Lloydminster. Due to safety concerns and other environmental issues, the SHA closed the facility on Tuesday July 21 for further assessment.
We located that a sewer line was blocked and caused sewage to enter the building during assessments on Tuesday morning. The issue has since been resolved and remediation was undertaken. All patients with appointments on Tuesday were called to inform them of the issue and reschedule or redirect them to care via other means, such as virtual or care in an alternate location.
With remediation efforts completed on Tuesday, Prairie North Plaza will reopen on Wednesday July 22 with normal operating hours and services.
We are grateful to the staff who worked together to resolve this issue so quickly and to the community for being so understanding.
Approximately 100 appointments were or will be rescheduled and 32 appointments were delivered in an alternative way. The walk-in clinic availability was cancelled on Tuesday. Staff who work in the building were redirected to other work areas and tasks for the day, including supporting redirected patient appointments.
