Kitscoty and Lloydminster RCMP make arrest for stolen property
Kitscoty, Alta. – Between the dates of Sept. 6, 2024 and Sept. 12, 2024, Kitscoty RCMP received multiple complaints regarding a suspicious male driving a newer model white truck. The suspect was believed to have broken into a residential garage and a commercial property. Several items were reported stolen including tools and an ATV.
On Sept. 14, 2024, the suspect returned to the commercial property that they had previously broke in to; the suspect was identified and confronted by the business owner, who was then assaulted. The suspect then fled the area.
On Sept. 18, 2024, Lloydminster RCMP received a complaint of a suspicious male attempting to steal a motorcycle. When approached by police the male provided a false name, attempted to flee, resisted arrest, and attempted to disarm the responding member of his service pistol. The suspect was then arrested. Following the ensuing investigation, it was discovered that it was the same suspect involved in the Kitscoty RCMP occurrences.
On Sept. 24 , 2024, Kitscoty RCMP recovered an enclosed trailer that had been stolen out of Lloydminster. The trailer contained the aforementioned stolen ATV and various tools.
As a result of these investigations Robert Jeffery Johnson, a 46-year-old resident of Lloydminster, Alta., has charged with the following offences:
- Non-compliance with a probation order x2
- Break and enter to a dwelling house
- Theft over $5000
- Theft under $5000
- Assaulting a peace officer
- Resisting arrest
- Obstructing a peace officer
- Disarming a peace officer
- Possession of a controlled substance
- Assault
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
- Possession of property obtained by Crime Under $5000 x2
- Driving while prohibited x2
Robert Jeffrey Johnson was taken before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody. His next court date is on Nov. 5, 2024 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Lloydminster.
