Lloydminster RCMP advises of heavy police presence – Update
Lloydminster, Alta. – On June 12, 2025, at 9:11 a.m., Lloydminster RCMP received a report that an object that looked like a pipe bomb had been located in the backyard of a residence on 41 street near 49 avenue. Lloydminster RCMP responded and immediately cordoned off the area to ensure public safety and called the Alberta RCMP Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) to assist. Alberta RCMP EDU arrived on scene, identified and dismantled the device, confirming that it was indeed a pipe bomb.
Lloydminster RCMP is fully committed to investigating the issue and determining the device’s origin. It is unknown at this time whether this was an isolated incident or if there are other pipe bombs in the area. The public is asked to remain vigilant, not to approach any suspicious object and to report their findings to their local police. Lloydminster RCMP will continue to work with the Alberta RCMP EDU and has called in the Alberta RCMP Police Dog Services as well as Lloydminster RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) to assist in the investigation.

Christopher Byford, Acting Operations Support NCO for the Lloydminster RCMP. “We are hard at work investigating the issue and getting the answers the public needs in order to ensure their safety.”
