Lloydminster RCMP arrests four for firearm offences following report of suspicious persons
Lloydminster, Alta. – On June 18, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Lloydminster RCMP received a call reporting several individuals acting suspiciously near a business in the downtown core. Officers responded immediately and located four individuals matching the description provided by the caller. Further investigation revealed that the individuals were in possession of firearms. Three were arrested without incident. The fourth was later located in Onion Lake, Sk. A subsequent search resulted in the seizure of multiple firearms, including two loaded rifles, as well as ammunition and other weapons-related items.
As a result of the investigation, Shauna Couston (25), a resident of Fort McMurray, Alta., Germain Gamble (26), a resident of Onion Lake, Sk., Kyle Soosay (35), a resident of Kehewin Cree Nation, Alta., and Aimery Thunderblanket (21) a resident of Sweetgrass First Nation, Sk., were charged with multiple offences, including:
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose;
- Weapons possession contrary to order;
- Unauthorized possession of prohibited weapon;
- Resist arrest; and
- Possession of fentanyl.
Gamble, Soosay and Thunderblanket were brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody pending next court date. Couston has been released on conditions and is scheduled to appear before the Lloydminster Provincial Court on July 15, 2025.
