Vermilion RCMP makes arrest in sexual assault investigation
Vermilion, Alta. – On Nov. 30, 2025, Vermilion RCMP received a report of a sexual assault at Lakeland College. An investigation into the complaint lead to the arrest of Cameron Kelly, a 20-year-old resident of Unity, SK., on Dec. 4, 2025. Kelly was charged with Sexual exploitation and Sexual assault.
Kelly was brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions. He is set to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Vermilion on Jan. 5, 2025.
“Gender-based violence is a serious and ongoing issue in Canada and it disproportionately affects women and girls” said Cst. Jocelyn Hey of the Vermilion RCMP. “Places like Vermilion are not immune. It’s important that, as a community, we work toward educating ourselves and supporting survivors of this type of violence.”
