FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Neilburg Early Learning Child Care Inc. Takes Major Steps Toward Opening Licensed Child Care Centre in Neilburg, SK
Neilburg, SK; Neilburg Early Learning Child Care Inc. (NELCC) is thrilled to share new details about the community’s future licensed child care centre, including the planned location, project timeline, capacity, and ongoing fundraising efforts. A new on-site sign has now been installed, marking an exciting and tangible step forward for the project.
New Licensed Child Care Facility Planned for Neilburg
The future centre is planned for construction at the corner of Centre Street and 1st Avenue in Neilburg, SK. The official address will be finalized once the required lot consolidation is completed. The land has been graciously donated by the Village of Neilburg.
NELCC is pursuing a new build after extensive assessment of available properties. Universal Consulting Group Ltd. in Lloydminster is currently drafting design plans, with final plans expected in Winter 2026. Groundbreaking is tentatively targeted for Spring/Summer 2026. Once construction begins, the centre is expected to take approximately one year to complete. Based on current projections and funding timelines, NELCC is aiming for an opening in Winter/Spring2027.
Licensed Spaces, Ages, and Services
The Saskatchewan Ministry of Education has approved NELCC for 30 licensed child care spaces, eligible for the province’s $10/day subsidy for children aged 6 and under.
NELCC plans to accommodate:
● Infants (12–18 months)
● Toddlers
● Preschool-aged children (up to 6 years old)
In addition, NELCC is planning a before- and after-school program for children aged 7–12, expanding local support for school-aged families.
To operate the centre, NELCC will hire a full-time director, a minimum of 3–4 full-time educators, and several part-time staff. The board hopes to offer part-time opportunities to local high school students seeking early work experience.
A Much-Needed Community Resource
The centre will be centrally located close to the school and local park. As the first licensed child care facility in Neilburg, it will fill a long-running gap in community services: providing stability, safety, and developmental support for local children while supporting working families.
Fundraising Efforts and Upcoming Event
Government funding has been approved for just over half of NELCC’s anticipated costs. Community fundraising will play a key role in moving the project forward.
NELCC launched fundraising efforts in September and is actively exploring grants, donations, and program sponsorships. Future initiatives include a Toy Drive once storage space is available and online auction, among other initiatives.
Current fundraising totals $550,000, secured through Government of Saskatchewan grants and generous contributions from local businesses and community members. This includes a remarkable $100,000 donation from the Rural Municipality of Hillsdale No. 440. NELCC is working toward a total fundraising target of $800,000 to bring the project to completion. This figure is subject to change once the floorplan is finalized.
